Really cute hooks for Ribbon Ring

I was at Craft Warehouse today and I saw the CUTEST ever cast iron coat hooks. There was a butterfuly, flower, fleur and some other designs. Seriously cute. I would hang these directly on the wall, but their display showed the hooks mounted onto a wooden plaque, which was painted/embelished. If you are looking for a hook for your Ribbon Ring check them out. There is even a video on their website about how to create the hook plaques. I think the hooks were 20% too.

Ribbon Ring hooks

Buying the hook to hang your Ribbon Ring is a lot of fun. Most people use over-the-door coat racks, curtain rods or regular wall-mounted coat hooks. I have even seen a few plain nails. I am all about finding a cute hook to match the decor of the room. At Joanns craft store yesterday, I saw a bunch of really cute single garden hooks for the wall. These big hooks could accomodate two or three ribbon rings easy. They were 40% off and they had a variety of designs. If you are looking for a cute gardening themed hook, check them out!

RIBBON RING CUPCAKE HOLDERS

A bazillion people have asked where I bought the cupcake holders... I found them at Joanns several months ago. They are resin and I spray painted them to match my pink/black color scheme. For the little truffles, I use real truffle papers, just use a stack of them (DON'T SEPARATE THEM). You could do the same with the big cupcakes.

Ribbon Ring BLACK AND WHITE BUTTON CUPCAKE

BLACK AND WHITE BUTTON RIBBON RING CUPCAKE

Ingredients
One 3"styrofoam ball
buttons,
straight pins ( I use white tipped)
glitter spray

Start at center of ball and add a line of buttons circling the circumference. Plug each button hole with a straight pin to secure to ball. Be aware that there will be gaps between buttons and that is okay. They will fade away when you are all done. If it is too big of a gap, use buttons of similar size so the gaps stay consistant. Place inside cupcake holder to see if you need to add a row at the bottom.

Spray with glitter.

DONE and ENJOY!

Creating Keepsakes Mesa - Ribbon Ring Rules

So here we are wrapping up CK Mesa. My son and I have had a great time here! For fun, my 12 year old son kept a tally of how many people touched* the Ribbon Ring cupcakes and topiaries...despite their being a sign that says, "Please don't touch".

*Touches include petting, poking, full-on touching, GRABBING and yes, breaking the display. One of the flower topiaries got ruined when someone took the head off and them rammed it back on so hard that it made a huge hole all the way through. (Sigh)

Grand total for Friday: 113
Saturday: 85 and counting!!

Ribbon Ring chocolate curl cupcake recipe

Here is the recipe for the Ribbon Ring chocolate curl cupcake:

CHOCOLATE CURL RIBBON RING CUPCAKE

Ingredients
One 3"styrofoam ball
3/8" wide ribbon pieces, approx. 1.5" long
straight pins ( I use both plain and white tipped)
glitter spray

Loop ribbon and secure to ball with two straight pins. One straight pin just isn't enough... the ribbon will shift (trust me on this one). HINT: Start with one style of ribbon and use it all up first, then add another style of ribbon so you can make sure the ribbon designs are evenly spread around the cupcake. Keep adding ribbons until ball is 3/4 covered.

You will need more ribbon than you think.

Place inside cupcake holder to see if you need more/less ribbon. Spray with glitter.
DONE and ENJOY!

Ribbon Ring CRAZY RIBBON cupcake recipe

I am going to post my Ribbon Ring cupcake recipes one at a time, at the end I will post HOW to get the cupcakes to stay in the cupcake holder. It is SOOOOOO tricky but I found the PERFECT solution.

CRAZY RIBBON RING CUPCAKE

Ingredients
One 3"styrofoam ball
3/8" wide ribbon pieces, approx. 1.5" long
straight pins ( I use both plain and white tipped)

Tie ribbon with a knot in the middle and pin through the knot. HINT: Start with one style of ribbon and use it all up first, then add another style of ribbon so you can make sure the ribbon designs are evenly spread around the cupcake. Keep adding ribbons until ball is 3/4 covered.

Place inside cupcake holder to see if you need more/less ribbon. Spray with glitter.
DONE and ENJOY!

Ribbon Ring strawberries

One of the most frequently asked questions I get at conventions is,"What do you do with ALL THAT RIBBON??" Firstly, all that ribbon in my booth isn't ALL my ribbon... (tee hee). My most favorite ribbons are at home, safely hanging on the wall, on Ribbon Rings, away from ICE CREAM FINGERS!!!

To answer the question: mostly I use it on scrapbook pages. Of course, I use it on other craft projects too, like cards, chipboard albums etc. My daughter occasionally let me put ribbon in her hair and I love doing that. I make beautiful ribbon bows for presents and cupcake boxes too.

I also really enjoy making little non-traditional things out of ribbon. You know, things that you wouldn't normally make out of ribbon, like cupcakes. As my previous posts have mentioned, I have made the CUTEST pink and white ribbon cupcakes that you will ever see.

So, what is next? Now I am on to strawberries! I got the idea this afternoon and I am determined to make the cutest basket full of ribbon strawberries. I will post a picture when I am done.

Ribbon Ring - My favorite place to buy ribbon...

I get asked ALL THE TIME where I buy my ribbon. Well, I have been collecting it for over 12 years, so I know all the good places to find it! One of my very favorite supplies for quality grosgrain and ric rac is Really Reasonable Ribbon. I just bought 700 yards from them in fact. :) Yes 700 yards. DO NOT tell my husband. :)

I am replacing all of my personal ribbon that I take to scrapbook shows. So many people touch and handle the ribbon at my booth and I want to encourage that... just not with my own personal ribbon. Especially when a child with ice-cream fingers wants to touch all of the pink ribbon.... ACK! I know you get it... So, if you are looking for yummy ribbon, visit the Really Reasonable Ribbon website... http://www.reasonableribbon.com/.

Tell them the Ribbon Ring lady sent you! :)

Ribbon Ring is going to CK Arizona

Mark your calendars, we are going to the desert! I am sooo looking forward to a little bit of sunshine... Living in the Northwest, we rarely get to see the sun during winter/spring. I will have a booth at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Mesa, Arizona on May 17th & 18th. I am bringing my 12 year old son to help me out so it should be alot of fun. Please stop by our booth #96!

Ribbon Ring booth in Salt Lake City - Great American Scrapbook Expo

Here is my Ribbon Ring booth in Salt Lake City a few weeks ago. I had tons of people try to buy my cupcake holder, ribbon topiaries and ribbon rings (full of ribbon).

Sorry the pic is so dark. In person, it is very bright, pink and glittery!!!!

The clear paint cans are each full of book rings in different sizes. At our next show in Mesa, Arizona I am adding three additional book ring sizes.

Ribbon Ring sequin truffle & cupcakes

Here is a close-up of my ribbon cupcake.

So easy to make. The picture doesn't do it justice. In-person, you just want to hug it.

And the sequin truffle. This thing is terribly cute. Seriously.

Ribbon Ring cupcakes

Everyone who visited me at my Ribbon Ring booth in Salt Lake City ooooh and ahhhhed over these yummy cupcakes. They have nothing to do with scrapbooking or ribbon storage but they are soooo fun to look at! They are made with common craft ingredients: ribbon (my personal favorite), sequins, puff balls, buttons, pipe cleaners and a WHOLE lot of stick pins. I used plastic cupcake holders which I spray painted to match my color scheme, but I have used real paper cupcake holders in the past. Just use a whole bunch for each cupcake so they are sturdy.

My favorite is the pink and black ribbon cupcake on the middle rack. The ribbons are curled in circles and look like fun chocolate shavings. Of coarse, I sprayed them with glitter and yes they do look delicious! This cupcake rack brought so many people over to my booth. I could have sold this display a dozen times at least. It would be very cute at a baby shower!!! Once people realized I wasn't selling cupcakes, they were thrilled to see Ribbon Ring! I love talking ribbon storage!

If you have any questions about how there were made, just email me. I am happy to give you my recipe.
